So days off with the flu are good for some things…. like finally being able to watch Martha live! The first guest on her show today was Bridget Moynahan. Martha did her usual celebrity interview routine, not really chatting at all, but simply discussing the guest’s past works. Martha told the audience about Bridget’s roles in various movies and her role as Natasha in Sex And The City. When asked to talk about her roll as Natasha (it always seems kind of bizarre when Martha asks guests to discuss things that they are not plugging on the show), Bridget said that she played Mr. Big’s wife, but discovered that he was cheating on her with Sarah Jessica Parker.
ANYWAY. The task that Martha had ready for Bridget was the one of creating soft-boiled-egg candles. It pretty much involves chopping the top off of an egg, spilling out its contents and filling it with wax. In the process of chopping the egg top off, Martha went into a little explanation of the top-chopping device. It went a little bit like this:
MARTHA: ….so, you can use this to cut the tops of eggs off….
BRIDGET: Or you could use it on cigars…. Haha….. Hmm.
MARTHA: [Pause] Or other things. [Pause] Like cheaters.
[There's a silence from Bridget and the audience as they try to grasp what Martha has said and then they both start laughing.]
MARTHA: Can we cut that last bit out? Luckily this is a taped show!
