A couple of weeks ago, an acquaintance I know through Buffalo Rising asked me if I wanted to put on an art show in a gallery as my one final “hoorah!” before going off to college. I told her that that sounded fun, so a few days later, she, katie, a couple more people, and I met at Spot Coffee to talk it over.
They were pretty open to ideas about what exactly I wanted for the show. I told them that I wanted to do a new photo shoot specifically for the it. Unlike my previous shoots, which featured local landmarks and architecture, I wanted to make this one have a club-y disco-like theme. I told them to think Madonna’s new CD. We discussed locations for the shoot and stores that might be willing to donate clothing. We ended up shooting at a club on Chippewa called “La Luna” and we got clothing from Urban, Shoe Fly, and a lovely little vintage clothing store called Divine Finds.
