I got an iPod, I got an iPod, I got an iPod, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey!

So, since about last November, my iBook G3 wasn’t working all too well. The disc drive was broken. That meant no DVDs, no CDs…. no Sims. Then in about April or May, the screen began to get all green occasionally. So, yeah, my iBook G3 was pretty much shot. I needed to start saving up lots and lots of money.

…..And I did! Over the summer I got about $900 from birthday money (July 3, turned 16), depositing a kagillion pennies found in containers around the house, doing web design for this guy and this guy (thanks so much for choosing me to design your sites!), and depositing savings bonds thirty years early. I DID IT. I totally earned that much money. I feel so special. I usually can’t save that much money without going completely crazy. If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you’d know that if I have just $20, I go out and spend it on a DVD right away. But, BOO-YAH. I DID IT!

So. My mother, my friend, and I went over to the Apple Store on September 4th, 2004 to buy me a new iBook with the educational discount that this guy told me about. My mother pretended that we were buying the computer for her so that we could get the educational college employee discount. “Oh, yes, I brought my advisors—” (my friend and I) “—with me to help me pick out a computer.” So the cool apple guy showed my mother around and told her about all the cool little deals we could get by buying an iBook G4. Free printer….we had two printers in the house already, so that would be kind of pointless…. but wait! did he just say iPod? A $200 discount on an iPod?! I was so happy when I heard this that I had to run away to act interested in Apple’s new displays (absolutely hideous in person, by the way) so that I wouldn’t blow the cover that this computer was actually for me.

My mother at first said no to the iPod thing, but as soon as the cool apple guy went into the back to get the brand new iBook G4, my friend and I rushed over to my mother and informed her of the gigantic mistake she was making. When the cool apple guy came back out, she said, “my advisors tell me that the iPod thing is actually a very good deal.”

So, once again I had to run away to conceal my absolute joy while my mother payed for the iBook, the iPod (which after the rebate will be about $90) and the AirPort Extreme card, all with the student discount. WOOT! And I EARNED it! With my OWN money! That’s right! AHA! AHAHAHAHA! AHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAA!
