S’movies!

tokyogodfathersSo…. Saturday night, my parents were going out to dinner for my mother’s birthday and my sister was going to a camp out sleep over. I was all alone…. SO- I decided to ride my bike up to rent some DVDs. Now, I hardly do things like that alone, so applaud me (clap-clap-clap). I rented Welcome To Mooseport, Stuck On You, and Tokyo Godfathers. I also bought some Milk Duds and Sweet Tarts (yum!).

While my parents were out, I watched Welcome To Mooseport. I thought it was pretty good. It wasn’t hilarious, but I liked the characters and the strangeness of some parts of it. When my parents got home, my mother and I watched Tokyo Godfathers, which was GREAT! It’s in anime and is in Japanese with English subtitles. It’s about three homeless people in Tokyo who find an abandoned baby. They want to find its parents and find out why they abandoned it. It has humor, it has action, it has adventure, it has drama! Great movie!

dayaftertomorrowSunday afternoon, my friend and I went to see The Day After Tomorrow. It was less corny than the preview made it look, so that was good. Some bits of it were a little corny, but the rest of it was pretty good, so it didn’t really matter. There were some scary scenes and scenes with really nice special effect thingies. It must have taken so much money to make! One thing about the movie that I found interesting was how that the people in it had to go completely against our morals and beliefs in order to survive. Example: burning books, going over the Mexican border, and I don’t want to give any more away!

stuckonyouAfter the movie, my friend and I went to meet is mother at a party store. My friend’s little brother bought one of those thingies that has a clown’s face and then a magnet that drags little pieces of metal so you can give the clown hair and stuff. In the car on the way back, he made the clown version of Hitler by dragging the metal pieces to make one of those short mustaches. It was pretty funny- although, a little wrong. — I just thought I’d mention that, it’s not really relevant to the whole movie theme of this post….

So- anyway, when I got home, I wanted to see Shrek 2. That didn’t really work out, so I decided to watch Stuck On You instead. It was surprisingly really good. Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear were really funny! It was a bit silly, but not as over the top as it could have been. So, yay! I’m catching up on my movies! Now I want to see Shrek 2!

Fantasia Barrino is the new American Idol! I am so happy! That was intense before Ryan Seacrest opened the envelope. When he said that Fantasia was the winner I flipped out- in a good way! I was shouting, I was so happy! Yay! Fantasia! {Photos from idolonfox.com.}

GO FANTASIA! Wooooo!

Yesterday was a ton of fun- at least the getting out of school part. Today was a day off because of teacher meetings or something, so my sister hosted a sleep over birthday party for a girl who’s parents wouldn’t let her have one.

Also, it was part of the of the American Idol Finale. Fantasia was SO good! Diana was pretty good, but Fantasia was SO gooood! So- to prove how much some of us loved Fantasia, two of the people from the party and I went up to a big street at about 9:30pm with “Vote for Fantasia!” signs. We went up to shop and restaurant windows and held them up, we stood at the curb and had cars honk at us. We even had a few people flip is off! It was tons of fun!

Pretty poop week.

I’m super sorry for not posting for like a week. I’ve just been preoccupied with a whole bunch of other garbage. My last week has been pretty cruddy. Here’s a list of what happened:

1) My sister got a really nasty contagious (and embarrassing) rash, which of course, freaked me out as I’m so terrified of stuff like that.

2) I was without my computer for a few days because I brought it in to have the screen fixed. The screen on my iBook occasionally (mostly after it waked up from sleep) gets blurry with vibrating little green pixels all over the place. It’s kind of hard to describe. The guy at the Apple Store said it was a logic board problem and that Apple would repair it for free. Yay…. [overly dramatic tone] or so I thought….[/overly dramatic tone]

3) Friday morning, I woke up to my sister shouting and being in a cranky mood. I was crossing the street to the bus stop, the bust was about to turn. I ran to the bus stop just as it was turning. I was at the bus stop and it drove right by me.

4) On Friday afternoon, the Apple Store people called and said that the serial number on my iBook was older than the serial numbers that applied for the free logic board repairs. Poo. If I wanted to fix it, it might cost $300.

5) So, after hearing this dreadful news about my iBook, I immediately began obsessing over needing a new one. I don’t know what it is about me. It’s a really bad habit. Once I get an idea in my head I can *not* *shut* *up* about it. That’s probably how I got myself into the mess in number 6.

6) I decided I needed to raise a ton of money to buy a new computer. Soo…. I decided to make a lemonade stand. I want to the supermarket and bought about $30 in supplies.

7) At the supermarket, I saw that they were selling The Lord of The Rings The Return of The King about four days before its scheduled release. I was super excited, but my mother wouldn’t let me get it because we were buying all the other stuff.

8) I stayed up until like 1:30 in the morning making lemonade stand stuff. I had like the cutest little signs EVER made out of paper bags.

9) The day of the lemonade stand had pretty crappy weather, at least in early part of it. It was raining and windy.

10) At the lemonade stand, the police came and asked us if we had a permit. Then, my friend who was helping me was asked for a cigarette twice by strangers. Then another creepy guy came up to us and told us we needed a health permit. For goodness sake! It’s only a lemonade stand!

11) Back at home, I accidently broke a fancy dish that we used to hold some of the lemonade stand food. Then, being mad at myself, I accidently broke a calculator and my lamp shade.

12) Today, after school, I rode to the supermarket to go pick up The Lord of The Rings. The supermarket is like three miles, or maybe more away from my house. I was riding with Adam, and he is a *really* fast bicyclist. I was very tired and dizzy by the time I got there and found out [*gasp!*] that it was gone or sold out. Adam thought that I had imagined seeing it. I didn’t!

So not I get to look forward to the two tests I have tomorrow. Luckily Wednesday’s a day off, otherwise I’d be TOTALLY depressed.

The SUPER DUPER Helen Frankenthaler Chair

Above is a picture of the art chair I made, or decorated, actually, for my art class final. The artist who’s style I was supposed to base the chair’s look on was Helen Frankenthaler. I don’t know if it’s the best thing I’ve ever made, but sculpture and 3D art isn’t exactly my thing. It’s pretty good, even though it’s pretty plain compared to some of the other chairs students have made.

One sibling is quite enough, thank you.

This weekend has been a bit more stressful than I like my weekends to be. I have math homework this weekend, which is unusual, as we usually don’t get math homework on the weekends…. I have an art project that’s due tomorrow, and I’ve hardly started it, too. The art project consists of three parts: make a chair design based on a certain artist’s style, write a report about it, and make a presentation about it. So that was enough already. On top of all of this other stuff, though, I received some [hushed and mysterious voice] shocking [/hushed and mysterious voice] news.

After school on Friday, my friend, Russell, came over. We were chatting, hanging out, whatever, when the phone suddenly rang. [Three loud toots of a horn- BUM-BUM-BUM!] Russell answered it. He told me it was my aunt who was looking for my parents. I gave Russell my father’s cell phone number and he told it to my aunt. The time passed, and I didn’t think much of it.

-Then- Then, my parents got home. I went into the living room, where they were sitting. This is when I heard the -shocking- news.

My mother said something along the lines of, “how would you like to have two little kids dropped of at our doorstep?”

I stood there, for a moment, slightly puzzled. Then, somebody in the room, I can’t remember who, said something along the lines of, “It has something to do with somebody who called earlier.”

I thought for a moment, gasped, and flung my hand over my mouth.

It’s. So. Hot.

Things to buy:

1. Air conditioner

2. Air conditioner

3. Air conditioner

4. Air conditioner

5. Air conditioner

It is so incredibly hot out, and it’s only May. I mean, this long winter sucked and everything, but…. it’s just so hot! The heat is making me incredibly irritable and is giving me headaches. It’s hard to sleep because I can’t sleep if it’s too hot, but I can’t sleep if I don’t have sufficient blanket weight on me.

I woke up last night and my pajamas were drenched in sweat. I had to change. I feel as if I might go insane from the heat if I don’t get an air conditioner. How much do air conditioners cost, are they still bad for the environment?

I should totally move to California

The weather started to get cold in about November. It didn’t really stop at all since until maybe last week, and still, it’s not as warm as I’d like it to be. So- November to May. How many months is that? November, December, January, February, March, April, May…. SEVEN MONTHS. That’s more than half a YEAR. Seven months of cold and darkness is just too much for me.

Some people may call me hypocritical for writing this. In fact, if you were to go into my old bedroom, you would see “SUN BAD, DARK GOOD” written in sparkle gel above the window. Maybe it’s just something that comes with time. I don’t remember winter being so intolerable for me when I was younger. Winter was cold and dark, but it really didn’t make me feel depressed.

Since about a year or two ago, though, winter has made me VERY depressed. Maybe it’s just the stress from school and other things. During those dark, dark months of the year, my junk food and computer intake is at drug addict levels. Anything, anything at all to take me away from the horrible gray darkness that’s outside the house. Anything to get me by just surviving on artificial light.

So this summer, I really need to do more. I think the less you do, even though it seems like a lot of time while you’re doing the nothing that you do, the faster time seems to have gone by. Or maybe that, too is a side effect from getting gradually older. I’m kind of scared that it’s already May when the winter holidays are still fresh in my mind. Will time just keep going by faster as I get older? I’m starting to understand what people mean when they talk about time going like a blink of the eye. It’s FREAKY! So, I need to do more. And I really hope this summer isn’t as rainy as last summer, which, by the way, does not seem that long ago, either.
