laying cool

under layers of foreign sheets

breathing chlorinated air

in the room.

the bathroom light

shows through a crack

from the door and spreads

a thin line on the wall.

the faint sound of

the cars driving by below

seems to say “shhhhhh.”

go to sleep.

rolling over

tasting the clean cool smell

and your face on the sheets

in a different place.

This one is really nice. It has a faint rhythm to it, but nothing bold like a limerick. It makes me think of some great memories, which I think is what art is really for – giving the viewer something to reflect on themselves in. Don’t know if that last sentence came out very well – I’m finding it a little hard to articulate my thoughts right now. Must be because I’ve been studying in French for the past hour.
