I feel like such a loser.

I think I have found the COOLEST BLOG *EVER*! I’ve had it on my links page for a few days or maybe a few weeks, but not until recently has it gotten interesting. The blog, Journey Out, is about a gay “Nomad” traveling around the world! His last entry was from Cairo where he was visiting the pyramids. Wow. WOWWOWOWOWOWOW. I totally want to go to Cairo now! And check out where he’s staying! Seriously, us other bloggers are so not worthy to have blogs when there are people writing about stuff like that on theirs. Awesome. Really awesome.

Gar…. Sleep.

Okay, I got like twelve hours of sleep last night (10:30-10:20ish), and it’s like 1:21 now and I still feel completely exhausted. And we even got a 5 day weekend because of the two snow days we had on Thursday and Friday. It’s very hard to get back to sleep on snow days, though. On a regular school day, I could get back to sleep, knowing that I have to get to school, but on a snow day…. It’s like: “School’s Closed!” “Yay! School’s closed!” Then I can’t get back to sleep, it’s such an adrenaline rush when you find out that school’s closed. Is this normal? I usually watch a movie on the mornings when we have a snow day. Gar, but I’m really tired now!

My Birthday Parties Are Lame

My sister’s birthday party rocked! My sister usually has pretty cool birthday parties (sleep over at a youth hostel, a tarot reader, an all-dressed-up dinner party, a five -or more- course dinner, and lots more), but this party seemed to be perhaps the coolest! We rented out a pool hall, like pool tables, not swimming pools. My sister had like five of the tables being used for pool and the other one she was using for dice and cards! :) It was really cool! Then, there were all-you-can-drink drinks at the bar for the kids at the party! My birthday parties are really dumb compared to my sister’s. Not that I’m complaining. I personally think the more people that are at my parties, the more overwhelming it is. My sister had like, 20 girls at the party. It was still *really* fun.

Carmen Rasmusen In a Movie!

Oh, my gosh! I was going through apple’s quicktime movie trailers and I saw Pride and Prejudice. I clicked it…. turns out it’s a modernization of the book. As the trailer was coming to a close, there was a singer singing a song…. Was it….? Yes! It was! It was CARMEN RASMUSEN! (As in Carmen, from American Idol, Season 2, Carmen!!!!) This, plus the snow day today! Wow! This makes my day!

I added a new photo album to my photos site called “Rainy Day In The City In A House”…. And that’s what it is. It’s pictures taken inside a house on a rainy day. Pictures of candles, mugs, the stovetop, a window, and stuff…. :)

“Big Fish”

I saw the movie “Big Fish” last Sunday. I didn’t really know what to expect. It was all right, I suppose. Not as great as many people said it was. I suppose I’m just not a fan of that type of movie. Don’t get me wrong, the parts with Ewan McGregor were great. Those parts were very funny and magical. The thing that sort of got on my nerves was the flashback/flashforwards. I really *can’t stand* it when movies do that, interrupt the story to flash forward to the present. It should have just been the present in the beginning and end and a flashback in the middle. The other thing that really got on my nerves was the father, or the old version of Ewan McGregor’s character, Ed Bloom. Why, when they are making an emotional movie in which an old guy tells a story, must the old guy sound like he’s on the verge of death with grunting and a throat that sounds as if it’s going to burst open from the amount of phlegm that’s in it? I really, really, really don’t like that. Is it trying to make the movie more real? If so, it wasn’t doing that, it was just making it very annoying. But if you can get past the flashbacks and the annoying narrating, go see it! Many of the scenes are very good.

“Chasing Liberty”

chasinglibertymandy.jpg Does Mandy Moore look fat in this picture (shown on the right)? I really don’t think so, yet that’s what my sister and her friend think of her in her new movie, Chasing Liberty. They say she’s fat! (Though, note: they still think she’s pretty.) Has it come to girls not only thinking that they’re fat, but thinking other *skinny* girls are fat, too? It’s not cool! Mandy Moore looks the same as she did in her other movies: skinny! The only problem that made her look a bit wider would probably be the horizontally striped shirt she was wearing. But other than that, she didn’t look fat! It made me very mad to hear this, and even though it’s her birthday today, we still argued about it this morning.

The movie was pretty good. It’s wasn’t *excellent*, but it was good. My mother said the dialogue was a bit weak, but I thought it was fine. My sister was completely ga-ga over the guy starring alongside Mandy Moore, Matthew Goode.

It was about an 18 year old girl, Anna (code named “Liberty”) who’s basically lead a very sheltered life, first being the daughter of the governor for eight years, then the president for six years, being constantly surrounded by security guards, is all she’s really used to. When her family goes to Europe, she takes an opportunity to slip away from all of her security guards and go on a little adventure of her own with the help of a guy she meets on the street (played my Matthew Goode), little does she know, that Matthew Goode is another secret service agent that her father has watching her (dum, dum, dum!).

All in all, it was a pretty good movie, and there were some funny parts, too, and some funny characters including a crazy backpacker searching for a dream girl and a poor gondola (is it driver?) who can’t get customers. There is also a fairly good subplot involving two of the secret service people “chasing liberty”.

Sadly, this movie hasn’t been getting great reviews. I have a thought about movie reviewers. They are way too picky! In the olden days, people went to see movies to have fun, nowadays, it seems that people go to movies to ridicule them! Movies are made to be fun, they are not made to have people dissecting them and judging them. I enjoy movies mostly as long as they’re not boring. If it’s paced well and has a pretty good plot that doesn’t make me want to get up and leave, I pretty much enjoy the film. Not so with today’s movie reviewers. They’re so whiny! Ooooo, the acting was stupid! Ooooo, the plot was unrealistic! Ooooo! It’s like, shut up! People spent tons of time and money on making those movies, sit back, enjoy them, and be done with it! Don’t ruin it! The people of today are so used to seeing really well made movies with tons of special effects and trick cinematography, that they completely overlook good movies without that stuff. I think that if movies like The Wizard of Oz or any of those other old movies came out today, they, too, would be ridiculed by the reviewers of today.

Movies are meant for enjoyment. They are meant to take you away from the harshness of the world. They are not always to be taken as seriously as they are taken. Please, people, lower your standards, for the sake of having fun!

Yum…. av players!

After finding out that the iPod Mini (4gb) was only $50 less than the 15gb iPod (about $300), I was like “pshhh! no way!” On to the next cool thing, AV Players! I was flipping through Teen People last night and I saw a totally cool thing! A handheld player that plays digital video, displays photos, and plays mp3s! It’s called the Zvue Player! Only problem is, it only holds from 32mb t0 512mb of stuff, which is nothing as digital music goes, and very little compared to the gbs that the iPods hold! This was a bit disappointing, as an AV player would be a really cool thing. But then, I remembered a site I saw a few months back, the iPod AV site! The iPod AV isn’t a real player, it is a little fake illustration thingy created by a .Mac user. The iPod AV looks great, and it would probably hold much more than the Zvue player. The downside would be the price. I’m guessing that an AV iPod would cost much more than the $300+ iPods, whereas the Zvue player is only $99. On the other hand, the “creator” of the iPod AV has a few iPod AV accessories made up on his site which really make the iPod AV look awesome!

iPod Mini…. *droooollll….*

Apple released the new iPod Minis! They are too cool! They come in *5* new colors! Yay! They can hold up to 1,000 songs! I want one! I should add it to my wish list once I make a wish list…. They’re pretty! And they’re colorful! Not that white that Apple’s so fond of! Maybe they’ll even to a deal if you buy a Mini car, you can get a Mini iPod like they did for the Beetles and the regular iPods….

Back To School Blues

You’d think that sixteen days vacation and rest would be enough, but no, ever since I got back to school from Christmas break, another day off is all I can think about! Perhaps it’s because I’ve gone from about ten hours of sleep a day to five hours of sleep a day very quickely. The return to the stupid florescent lights, chalk dust, and homework is indeed depressing. I am completely desperate for a snow day!

On a lighter note, I organized my locker! And goodness, did my locker need it! Last year, my locker was a complete mess, I blame this partly for my horrible school year last year. My locker was still very messy up until yesterday when I brought in the fancy locker stuff I bought to organize it!

I bought:

•2 locker shelves

•1 magnetic locker pen holder thingy on which I glued a picture of alcoholic drinks so it looks like I have a mini bar in my locker.

•1 magnetic post it notes holder.

I also bought some other things for school to make me more organized, but not for my locker. They include some notebooks, paper, and binders.

I put two little poster thingies up in my locker which used to belong in a calendar.

Now my locker looks great!
